Daniel Poneman
Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy
On May 14, 2024, the TUM Speakers Series proudly welcomed Daniel Poneman, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy, to the Vorhoelzer Forum of TUM’s main campus for an inspiring keynote and moderated discussion.
In his keynote, he shed light on the pivotal role of nuclear energy in combating climate change. “We are losing the fight against climate change, and nuclear energy is essential to stop losing and start winning.” His perspective underscores nuclear power as a powerful, clean, and reliable energy source that can meet growing demands and prevent climate disaster.
Nevertheless he also urged for collective action in saving our planet. “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” A clear reminder that united we stand in the fight for our planet’s future.
To conclude the event, Daniel Poneman answered questions from our audience in a lively Q&A session.
A sincere thank-you to Daniel Poneman for his time, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Kramer for his opening remarks and everyone who contributed to making this special evening possible.
