Prof. Muhammad Yunus
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
On January 20, 2020, the TUM Speakers Series proudly welcomed Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, to the Vorhoelzer Forum at TUM’s main campus for an impressive keynote and moderated discussion.
As our second event of 2020 we had the extraordinary honour of listening to Prof. Muhammad Yunus, a pioneer in the concept of microfinance and microcredits, for which concepts he was awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Price.
After an introduction speech by TUM Senior Vice President Prof. Claudia Peus, Prof. Yunus provided our attendees with a compelling keynote on his work.
Following his presentation he discussed relevant topics with our moderator Josephine Melcher, in which they covered different areas of his expertise, ranging from social businesses, over microcredits and the Grameen Bank, an institution he founded for such, to different strategies for developing countries. To conclude the discussion, Prof. Yunus shared personal stories from his extraordinarly successful career-path.
A sincere thank-you to Prof. Muhammad Yunus for his valuable time and thoughts, SVP Prof. Peus for her warm introduction and everyone who contributed to making this special event possible.
