On February 15, 2019, the TUM Speakers Series proudly welcomed Sir Tony Blair, Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Executive Chairman of the Tony Blair Institute to the Audimax at TUM’s main campus for an insightful keynote.
Amidst the negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom regarding the country’s departure from the EU, colloquially known as Brexit we had the honour of providing our audience with wise words from an insider: Sir Tony Blair.
The United Kingdom’s former Prime Minister (1997 - 2007) shared his thoughts on the complex process of a member-state leaving the European Union, something that had never happened before.
Besides Brexit, he also discussed other political topics such as internal British politics regarding the role of Scotland - his country of birth - or the UK’s educational system, as well as the Iraq War through which he served as the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister.
To conclude the event, Tony reflected on his time as Prime Minister as well as his endeavours with his very own institute where he serves as the Executive Chairman fostering global change.
